A bientôt

Sun came back !!!!
We don't know how long he forecasts to stay...so  we profited by his presence and went walking...in Canada =D
Yes, in Canada, or at least on the piece of land given to Canada in 1922.  Maybe Canadian friends coming around here know about this place.
It's in Vimy, near Arras.
The Canadian Memorial rises in the memory of the about 3500 soldiers who lost their lives in 1917, trying to get back the crest from the German. And they succeeded. All their names and  service numbers are engraved in the stone.
We can't go walking everywhere because there are still non exploded shells all around :-/
That's why only sheeps can go everywhere !
But we can see the holes, numerous and deep holes in the ground left by the shells !
We can also walk in the trenches, and there are underpasses that we can visit.
One tree per soldier have been planted, most of all are maple trees, which give to Vimy a wonderful landscape in Autumn.
There's a lot to say about this place that I love, I just wanted to share a little with you
I only stitched a little this weekend, a little cute bunny from Adam Prescott's design that I have to sew, I'll show you tomorrow =D
Have a nice day and see you soon around here
big hugs

  1. Lovely pictures Valerie. We have been to Vimy Ridge twice. Once,in glorious sunshine and the second time it was misty and cold. Both visits were special.I have many Canadian relatives.
Glad the sun was shining for you this weekend :)

  2. Lovely pictures. I haven't been there yet:-( In the beginning of this year we visited the American soldiers graveyard and I thought it was very impressive. But of all the place I ever visited in France, I think Oradour was the most moving, emotional experience.

  5. Bonjour Valma!

I'm a new follower from... you guessed it Canada :) Unfortunately I know only a little bit of french - but I'm determined to get better at it!!!

I was very interested to find this post! My brother visited Vimy Ridge just last year, it is a very well known place over here due to the war, as well as Beaumont Hamel.

I love your stitching and look forward to seeing lots more!

As for the rain... I understand your pain haha.

    Have a great day!!!
